Matt-words

Matt DeBenedictis lives in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the founder of the press Safety Third Enterprises and is the author of three chapbooks, including Congratulations! There’s No Last Place If Everyone Is Dead. His website is wordsforguns.com.

You’re on a deserted island but luckily you found your three most favorite books, what are they?

Jernigan by David Gates and Home Land by Sam Lipsyte. Won’t need three. I’m a domesticated vegetarian. I’d be dead very soon.

What phrase/quote would you (or do you!) have tattooed on your body?

My body has a few phrases on it. Rather than list them or pick a favorite I’ll simply mention the one I’m looking directly at: Don’t Panic.

What contemporary writer excites you the most?

Sam Lipsyte

What does independent literature mean to you?

It is looking at an unfinished puzzle, feeling inspired as well as frustrated. It is making new pieces. It is cutting old pieces and coalescing them to other pieces. It is wanting a picture that is not on the box to form, and for others to see it.

What color is the sky?

Fading and unaware.

Safety Third Enterprises just release the tenth title by Atlanta-based writer Laura Relyea titled All Glitter.
